Poker Babe Clonie Loses $40,000,000 Pot

The river card has come and poker babe Clonie Gowen has lost her long battle against Full Tilt Poker. With this decision, Gowen’s bid for a 1% stake of Full Tilt Poker appears to be over.

Since November 2008, Gowen has been locked in a court feud with Full Tilt Poker after claiming she was once promised 1% of the company in exchange for representing them. Full Tilt big shot Howard Lederer and other FTP representatives claim the company is worth over $4 billion and that would refute her claims. In essence, this would mean that Did Full Tilt verbally offer her the 1% not knowing the company would eventually be valued so high? You decide for yourself. Of course, Howard Lederer is a man of integrity as we all know now that the Full Tilt scandal has been uncovered!

Still, Gowen continued on with her lawsuit against Tiltware LLC which also included Full Tilt Poker, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman, and Erick Lindgren, all FTP endorsed poker pros, among the list of defendants. Gowen claimed that every member of Team Full Tilt was given distribution checks except for her. However, Lederer allegedly offered Clonie a cool quarter million for representing Full Tilt Poker. She refused this payment and began working towards launching her lawsuit in the hopes of landing a $40,000,000 payday.

There is one guarantee that will come from all this mess. Next time, be assured Clonie will get it in writing.

Things Get Uglier for Clonie Gowan vs Full Tilt Poker

Clonie Gowen, who filed suit in November of 2008 after she was released from her contract, claims that she was offered a 1% stake in FTP, which would entitle her to a return of approximately $40 million. She must think she’s Michael Jordan. FTP has sued Clonie requesting that she make a statement disavowing her claim of owning any stake in the company.

Clonie signed on with Team Full Tilt in May, 2004. Allegedly, the 1% offer came during a meeting in Phil Ivey’s Golden Nugget suite presided over by FTP big shot Howard Lederer. The 1% was offered as payment for future promotional services, including her representation of Full Tilt at live tournaments and events. Again, she’s a good poker player and she’s hot, but she ain’t no Michael Jordan!

She may lose this fight since there is nothing on paper. In addition to suing Tiltware, LLC, she also sued the Full Tilters Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius.

So what lesson can be learned here? When signing on for a new position, always get the details in writing!

Clonie’s Former Employer Full Tilt Poker Sued by Players

Full Tilt Poker, the online site that formerly sponsored Clonie Gowen as well as dozens of other top professional poker players, now has a third lawsuit on its hands to go along with pending legal action from Clonie and former employee Jason Newitt. Unlike the previous two cases, this suit comes from a customer rather than someone with inside knowledge of how the company works.

Online poker players Lary “pokergirl z” Kennedy and Greg Omotoy filed their complaint on October 1st and levied accusations of fraud, libel, slander, false advertising, and racketeering against the popular online poker room.

Kennedy and Omotoy sought legal action after Full Tilt Poker confiscated more than $80,000 spread across the two players’ accounts because FTP believed they were using bots, which is against its Terms of Service. Shortly after her account was frozen in 2007, Kennedy posted her story on a poker forum seeking advice. As the thread developed, news broke that Kennedy was logging in on Omotoy’s account to elicit more action at the heads-up tables.

In addition to seeking restitution and damages, the lawsuit accuses the site of a number of other crimes and makes insinuations about the inner workings of its management team. The suit is filed against the companies Full Tilt Poker and Tiltware as well as several individual members of Team Full Tilt. The list of individuals named in the claim includes Howard Lederer, Raymond Bitar, Phil Gordon, Chris Ferguson and other sponsored players believed to be more than players.
